TRASHed (Trash Education) Art of Recycling is one of Global Inheritance's longest-running programs. Debuting at the Coachella Music & Arts festival in 2004, this program infuses environmental responsibility with original art to bring new attention to the practice of recycling. 

TRASHed invites artists to design empty recycling bins to inspire event-goers to recycle while engaging in the larger concept of activism. The festival has showcased thousands of Art of Recycling bins over the last 20 years, each an original work produced by artists from around the world. Artists including Hunter S. Thompson, Blink-182, Fugazi, and many others have created work for the collection.

For our program’s 20th anniversary at Coachella, we're inviting past participants along with a diverse slate of new artists to share their most ambitious Art of Recycling ideas yet to make this year’s collection one for the ages.
