Ride into the Sunset In Style. High Plains Mixer Coming To Stagecoach In April

Do you eat, sleep and breathe country music? Are you always searching for the latest mashups and remixes? Do you feel betrayed because all those Big Macs you ate didn’t turn you into an Winter Olympic Medalist!!! Are you a VIP without VIP access? The answers are coming to Southern California in April and its called the High Plains Mixer!!!!

Each night beginning at sundown, the High Plains Mixer will host 3 different high profile DJ’s mashing up country music and spinning the coolest tunes this side of the Rio Grande. Why does a non profit organization like Global Inheritance care about cowboys spinning records. For us, it’s less about the music and more about the power source. That’s where you come in VIP’s. Yes, we are offering Stagecoach VIP passes and other cool country inspired gear to individuals powering various devices on the High Plains Mixer stage. You think the mechanical bull is tough, try the Human Hamster Wheel for 30 mins!! Each day at noon, the Cattle Drive will begin over at the High Plain Mixer. Head over and help feed our energy well by riding bikes, bouncing on see saws, turning hand cranks and jogging in hamster wheels. You’ll need to clock in at least 40 mins of exercise before receiving any incentives.

The TRASHed::Art of Recycling returns to Stagecoach. Over 30 redesigned recycling bins featuring artwork designed by America’s Finest. All recycling bins are user friend so don’t be shy about tossing in your empty cans and bottles. The redesigned bins will also be placed in Los Angeles School District after the festival to inspire kids to recycle and know the difference between a trash can & recycling bin. Each recycling bin has been equipped with a LoJack system, so please leave them on the festival grounds. Last year... a few frisky cowhands eloped with a couple recycling bins and our amber alerts have gone unanswered. Global Inheritance will be showing redesigned mini-recycling bins for everyone looking to bring some art back to the ranch and represent!

Winter X Games 2010 ::TRASHed Feels Better Than CRASHed

TRASHed made a triumphant return to Winter X Games last week in Aspen, Colorado. Aspen hosted it’s 9th straight Winter X Games which is pretty impressive. If you tuned in online, onsite or on the television, you witnessed blue skies, big airs, bigger crashes and several firsts in action sports.

Festival goers, Smokey the Bear and our friends at ESPN helped Global Inheritance break its own winter sport record with over 17,800 empty bottles, cans and biodegradable cups collected...athletes, kids and adults alike helped keep the games spotless. In exchange for their efforts, we rewarded people with cool prizes from the likes of Camelbak, Ecoist, Bailey Hats, Interscope Records, Netflix, ESPN, Revo and Disney among others. Many thanks to all our great partners and the city of Aspen for a great beginning in 2010.

Global Inheritance also brought the Tour De Energy exhibit to Winter X Games. People were able to gain extra points by riding a bike to power a light box filled with LED, CFL and Incandescent bulbs. Those able to ride through all three stages, starting with easiest (LED’s) and finishing up with the grueling uphill battle of power the incandescent bulbs, received 10 extra points towards anything in the TRASHed Recycling Store.

Lastly, Global Inheritance’s THINK BIG recycling bin design workshop was a huge success on the opening day of the Winter X Games 2010. Kids Think Big And Go Big at Winter X Games 2010

Global Inheritance’s THINK BIG recycling bin design workshop was a huge success on the opening day of the Winter X Games 2010. With the help of ESPN, the Winter X Games and professional snowboarders Chanelle Sladics and Hana Beaman, local elementary school kids had the opportunity to design their own mini recycling bin on a beautiful day in Aspen. Kids could pick from a variety of painting supplies while being mentored by Chanelle and Hana on design options.

Our Think Big program was mostly geared towards professional artists in the past. Given the program’s popularity at Winter X Games, we hope to bring this campaign to other events throughout 2010. To get involved or learn more about THINK BIG campaign, please email TRASHed@globalinheritance.org

Spin Your Set At Coachella With A Little Help From Your Friends

Ever dreamed about Djing at the Coachella Music & Art Festival?

Here’s your chance for the resume builder of a lifetime.

First there’s a catch! With great opportunity, comes great sacrifice. You cannot perform on your own. You’ll need at least 12 friends to power all your equipment.

Your friends will be running on hamster wheels, riding bikes, turning hand cranks, riding seesaws among other things to power your turntables and sound system.

Secondly, there’s limited timeslots so all DJ’s confirmed will need to put down a $50 deposit. If you arrive on time and perform your DJ set powered 100% by friends or family or people you meet at the camp grounds.....you’ll receive a 100% refund plus a cool Sweat Shop Mixer t-shirt that is of course sweat shop free.

Lastly, you cannot suck. Send us your website so we can listen to your set. Coachella will curate the music hard drive so you’re getting the best of the best to spin. Set times during Coachella are 30 mins. If you’re friends are in great condition and you’re ruling the decks....this time period can be extended.

TRASHed :: Art of Recycling celebrates 7 glorious years at Coachella in 2010.

If you were born with the artistic ability to design a recycling bin like no other...

If your notebook doodles or murals alongside the 101N leave more to the imagination than the mayans, the ghost kid from three men & baby + the dinosaurs COMBINED...

Then we invite you to participate in TRASHed Coachella.

Everyone from Hunter S Thompson to Fugazi has represented during the past 7 years. Now here’s your shot to make the history books and get your redesigned recycling bin in front the world.

There’s two rounds of competition. Winning Northern America and then the world competition. 20 finalist will be selected each receiving tixs and vip passes for Coachella Festival 2010.

We invite you to submit your artwork and be considered to design one of the 20 recycling bins featured at Coachella. What's even better is that the non offensive redesigned bins will be placed in schools throughout Southern California after Coachella to inspire the future recyclers of the world! Next steps? Send us a link to your artwork, concept and/or website.

On February 20st, 2010... 20 artists and 5 alternates will be selected to redesign 96 gallon recycling bins. We don’t charge an admission fee, but any bad idea or artwork will be passed along internally at your expense.

Global Inheritance Prepares for Winter X Games 14

Athletes and fans alike are focused on one thing this moment. It doesn’t come wrapped in a box, it doesn’t take place in Canada and its not found in the cell phone of a famous golfer. It’s the world famous, winner take's home the gold Winter X Games where the biggest and best names in winter action sports battle in Aspen, Colorado.

Global Inheritance will partner with our friends at ESPN to deliver another year of programs that help keep the mountain spotless, the energy bill low, engages the crowds and expands the mind in order to inspire an environmental call to action long after the Winter X Games leave town.

This year’s program will include everything from the TRASHed Recycling Store to Tour De Energy + more activities to be announced.

We are currently looking for volunteers to assist Global Inheritance during the Winter X Games in Aspen. Volunteers should have a lot of energy, a lot of common sense, and the ability to connect with people on a real level. Most of our volunteers will be high school/college students. Since the Winter X Games attracts people from around the world, we are always excited to have people helping out from other countries. We cannot thank you enough for your support over these past 8 years. Through the peaks and valleys, you’ve provided us a reason to wake up in the morning, create new programs and try to shift the thinking process. We value your words of encouragements or critiques as we try to find a global balance that keeps the world spinning on the right track.

With Environmentaland currently closed for the season, Global Inheritance recommends another outstanding option – National Parks! PBS recently ran a series on national parks (now available on Netflix). Although this six episode series is one DVD too long and filled with a couple of cheesy moments, the overall project is incredible and provides you a real history of an amazing idea that has spread worldwide.
